North East Yarns commenced as a group of like-minded people with an interest
in Black and Coloured Sheep and the beautiful natural colours of their fleeces.
Our flocks varied in size but we discovered that by combining our resources we had
enough wool to have it value-added and produce yarn, batts, and tops for those
interested in crafting their own items. We further value-added by having
some of the yarn knitted into a range of classic jumpers with the pattern
varying from year to year. Our latest jumpers are a lovely moss stitch and cable pattern.

    Over time members of our group developed a range of unique individually
crafted items using our yarn, batts and tops. This included knitted garments, socks,
gloves, scarves, and beanies. We have now broadened our outlook
further to take in other natural fibres, and also found that natural and dyed
yarns can compliment and enhance a finished item to great effect.
Not only do we knit, we also spin, weave, felt and crochet.

  The broadening of our vision has meant that we have grown from being
only a group of sheep breeders, to being a group which embraces
people who craft as well.
